Be Protected

Protect your family from life's unexpected moments.

Guaranteed Asset Protection

A wrecked vehicle can wreck your finances if you owe more on your loan than your insurance will pay. Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) insurance protects against the hardships of your vehicle being stolen or totaled due to an accident. In these unfortunate events, sometimes a borrower can owe significantly more than the value of the vehicle – this is known as the "gap."

If a loss occurs, GAP insurance will pay the difference between the actual cash value of the vehicle and the current outstanding balance on your loan. GAP is like an airbag for your vehicle loan.

Take your protection a step further! In addition to the coverage mentioned, GAP Plus may also cancel part of your next loan with your credit union, when you purchase a replacement vehicle.

Ask a Financial Services Representative about GAP & GAP Plus coverage so you can worry a little less about tomorrow.

Extended Vehicle Warranty

Mechanical Repair Coverage helps protect your vehicle by picking up where manufacturers’ warranties end. Plus, it is typically less expensive than dealer warranty options. Coverage is available for newer, as well as older year model vehicles.

Submitting Proof of Insurance

Why did I receive a notice about providing proof of insurance?
United Community requires all borrowers to obtain and maintain comprehensive and collision insurance for the life of their loan.

United Community uses a system to track and monitor the insurance status of their loans. If a member allows coverage to lapse on their loan, a collateral insurance policy is placed on the member's loan with the cost added to the monthly payments. Collateral protection insurance protects the credit union, but does not cover the borrower, and is no substitute for traditional insurance.

How do I remove the Collateral Protection Insurance from my loan?
You can remove the collateral protection insurance by submitting proof of insurance through one of the options listed below.
