United Community Emergency Relief Program

As proud as I am to share some of the financial assistance resources available to you, I must also take a moment to shed some light on an unfortunate situation many of you are at risk of being exposed to.

Financial institutions are being notified by federal organizations of increases in fraudulent activity related specifically to Coronavirus which can range from low-cost health care coverage to virus cures to false charities. These scams are impacting a wide range of individuals; however, older generations continue to be a preferred target. It is vital that we stay vigilant, informed and aware of possible scams.

The following recommendations come directly from the Coronavirus Scams page on Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) website:

Avoid Coronavirus Scams

  • Don’t respond to texts, emails or calls about checks from the government. The details are still coming together.
  • Ignore online offers for vaccinations and home test kits. There are no products proven to treat or prevent COVID-19 at this time.
  • Hang up on robocalls. Scammers are using illegal robocalls to pitch everything from low-priced health insurance to work-at-home schemes.
  • Watch for emails claiming to be from the CDC or the WHO. Use sites like coronavirus.gov and usa.gov/coronavirus to get the latest information. And don’t click on links from sources you don’t know.
  • Do your homework when it comes to donations. Never donate in cash, by gift card, or by wiring money.

The last few weeks have brought about global change in reaction to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. United Community continues to monitor the situation closely, taking in advisement from our local, state and federal governments. We are doing our part to adapt to the alterations effecting our daily lives while creatively re-cultivating the member experience. Safety of our staff, membership and community remain our up most concern.

Our previous message focused on the precautionary measures implemented to ensure a safe environment for you and our staff. While we are continuing to enforce those measures, recent recommendations from government officials have required us to re-evaluate our current operating procedures.

We will maintain normal operating hours and continue offering all features and products to our membership in a modified setting.

Branch Transition Schedule:
